Smoke mk 111/28/2024 ![]() ![]() Abhorrent Admirer: Skarlet frequently humors most of the male fighters with varying degrees of flirtatious comments about stealing some of their blood. In addition, Skarlet’s backstory is revised to have her be an orphan raised by Shao Kahn thanks to her impressive determination to survive. Her past self appears as one of the many Outworlders brought into the modern era by Kronika, her present day counterpart assumed dead. With Reiko's death, however, she escapes into the shadows and is not seen again until 11 where she returns as a playable character. She appears in the prequel comic series to X, where it is shown that after the apparent death of her master Shao Kahn, Skarlet sides with Reiko in the Outworld civil war. Unwilling Roboticisation: Kuai Liang is captured and turned into a cyborg against his will with his mind controlled initially, thanks to Raiden's meddling with the timeline sparing Smoke from this fate.Gameplay-wise, he has twice as many special moves as regular Sub-Zero, and he hits faster.Unfortunately, Sindel proves to be too much for even him, and he dies at her hands. After his soul and free will are returned, he goes on to defeat Sektor, utterly wrecks Goro and Kintaro in a one-on-two fight, knocks Ermac's block off, and then gets to beat some sense into his big brother Noob Saibot.Took a Level in Badass: As if Sub-Zero needed it or anything, but still.Teleport Spam: In a fashion similar to Cyrax.Cyber Sub-Zero latches onto his opponent Saibaman-style and self-destructs, leaving nothing behind except for his opponent's partially frozen lower body. Taking You with Me: His first Fatality. In one of his intros with Jax, he appreciates the restoration as the only good thing to come out of being a revenant. Status Quo Is God: Quan Chi restores his human body when he raises him as a revenant in the MKX prequel comics, which he retains when he is freed from Quan Chi's control and returned to life in MKX.Secret Character: in MKX, he is the fourth, hidden variant of Triborg.Retraux: Cyber Sub-Zero has a Klassic Costume, a blue palette swap of Cyrax and Sektor's klassic costumes. The comics and sequel instead show that his cyberization specifically protected him from this, leading to Quan-Chi restoring his human body in order to bind him. Retcon: He appears alongside the other Revenants in his cyber form, enslaved just like them. The Mole: After his soul is freed he is sent back to Shao Kahn's forces to act as a spy and learn their plans while pretending to be a mindless robot.Add in "Outworld Emperor" for his Arcade Mode Ending and actually becomes 3 out of the 4 when his undead soul is taken by Quan Chi (making him a Ninja Robot Zombie, but no hints of piracy yet) in Story Mode. with a little Cyromancer thrown in for good measure. Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: A Cyborg Lin Kuei, just like his fellow cyborgs. For Want of a Nail: Thanks to Raiden's knowledge of the future and the time changes resulted, Sub-Zero has been automated in place of Smoke.A Day in the Limelight: He's the focus of Chapter 14.While the necromancer's spells worked on Kuai's organic brain, his neuro-cybernetics could not be effected by magic and thus had to remove his technological enhancements to get rid of this impediment. Also subverted in that the cybernetics prevented Quan Chi from being able to put Kuai Liang under his control as one of his revenants initially. Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: Ultimately subverted when Kabal knocks him out, allowing Jax to reformat him and restore his conscience.Came Back Strong: It's implied that cyberization made Sub Zero so strong that he's basically on par with his amped up Grandmaster self from the previous timeline.Body Snatcher: Shao Kahn's soul takes over his body in his arcade ending.Battle Aura: His body even emanates an icy mist. And then it happens again after Quan Chi binds his soul to him. And I Must Scream: He remembers every horrific deed he committed under Shao Kahn while a cyborg, but was unable to go against his programming. He shares many of his moves with his human self. An Ice Person: He is Sub-Zero, after all.Advertised Extra: A lot of hullabaloo was made about this alternative version of Sub Zero, but he only appears in 2 chapters and is unceremonially killed of by Sindel.Alien Blood: He bleeds bright blue anti-freeze.This is only for additional tropes which appear in this game. For other tropes which apply to him, check his character sheet.
